Capable Captain was built around a simple idea: a successful yacht delivery starts long before the boat leaves the dock. Careful preparation, sound judgment, technical knowledge and professional seamanship all matter when an owner places a vessel in someone else’s hands. Captain Rob Cinq-Mars brings decades of experience aboard both sailboats and powerboats, from small recreational boats to large commercial vessels. Today, that experience is focused on providing professional powerboat delivery, sailboat delivery and captain for hire services.A Lifetime on the Water
Rob grew up on the water in Newport, Rhode Island, learning to sail aboard small boats before progressing through larger cruising sailboats, different rigs and eventually large schooners. His powerboat experience developed in much the same way, progressing from small outboards and recreational boats to larger vessels and commercial offshore boats. Over the years, Rob has operated vessels throughout New England, the East Coast, Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico, gaining experience in coastal, offshore and inland waters.Seamanship Meets Technical Expertise
Seamanship is only part of what Rob brings to a yacht delivery. He holds a degree in electrical engineering and has additional training in marine electronics and NMEA 2000 systems. That technical background can be especially valuable during a long-distance delivery. When an electrical, navigation or vessel-system problem develops far from the home marina, understanding how the system works can make a significant difference.
