Experienced Sailboat Delivery
Every sailboat delivery is different. Vessel size, draft, rig, equipment, weather, season and destination all play a role in determining the safest and most practical route.
Before departure, we evaluate the vessel and its systems, review weather and routing options, identify suitable ports and fuel stops, and prepare for the conditions likely to be encountered along the way.
For owners with power vessels, we also provide professional powerboat delivery services.
Sailboats We Deliver
Our crews have experience delivering a wide range of sailing vessels, including:
- Monohull sailboats
- Sailing catamarans
- Performance cruisers
- Bluewater cruising sailboats
- Coastal cruising sailboats
- Large sailing yachts
Every delivery is planned around the capabilities and condition of the individual vessel rather than following a one-size-fits-all schedule.
Planning Your Sailboat Delivery
Preparation is one of the most important parts of a successful sailboat delivery. Before getting underway, we review the engine, electrical systems, navigation equipment, standing and running rigging, safety equipment and other critical systems.
The route is then planned around weather, tides, currents, bridge clearances, draft limitations and appropriate stopping points. Depending on the boat and destination, the delivery may involve offshore passages, coastal cruising, the Intracoastal Waterway, canals, rivers or a combination of routes.
Before the crew arrives, review our guide to preparing your boat for delivery to help make the departure process easier.
Offshore & Coastal Sailboat Delivery
Some sailboat deliveries are best completed offshore, while others are better suited to protected coastal or inland routes. The right choice depends on the vessel, weather conditions, time of year and destination.
Our captains continuously monitor weather and conditions throughout the trip and adjust the route or schedule when necessary. Safety takes priority over maintaining an arbitrary arrival date.

Communication & Delivery Tracking
You should never have to wonder where your boat is during a delivery. Owners receive regular updates throughout the trip and can follow the vessel’s progress through our yacht delivery tracking.
We keep you informed about progress, weather delays, route changes and any issues that may arise along the way.
Sailboat Delivery Throughout the East Coast & Beyond
Capable Captain provides sailboat delivery throughout Florida, Chesapeake Bay, the Mid-Atlantic, New England, the Great Lakes, Gulf Coast, Caribbean, Intracoastal Waterway and inland waterways.
Our crews handle regional and long-distance deliveries, including seasonal moves between Florida and the Northeast, offshore and coastal passages, and deliveries connecting the East Coast with the Great Lakes, Gulf Coast and Caribbean.

Experience Beyond the Helm
Captain Rob Cinq-Mars is a USCG Licensed Master with decades of experience aboard sailboats and powerboats. He also holds a degree in electrical engineering and has additional training in marine electronics and NMEA 2000 systems.
That combination of seamanship and technical knowledge can be especially valuable on long-distance sailboat deliveries, where the crew may need to diagnose or manage vessel systems far from the home marina.
